Our Wedding Invitations
We had very little time to create our wedding invitations and I think the lack of time actually worked in our favor. Sometimes when you don’t have much time, you can’t agonize, you just have to go with your gut.
One of the many things I have in common with my husband is our love of posters and the crown-jewels of our collection are from Hatch Show Print. We wanted to incorporate the look of the old fashioned Hatch show posters into all of the pieces of our invitation. For the save-the-date, we created an old time postcard using wood type fonts and printed it digitally in our own studio on French Paper in Kraft. For the wedding invitation set, we wanted use the same feel with dark papers and incandescent inks. I loved the Tangy Orange and Hot Fudge colors by French Paper, so we used those shades. The invitation and response card were printed by Casey McGarr from Inky Lips Letterpress in Dallas, a friend of Jeremy. For the directions, Jeremy did a great map illustration and I wrote some fun copy on ‘things to do while in Seattle’ for our 40+ guests who were coming in from out of town. We folded all the direction sheets like maps which I thought was a great touch! We fastened together all the pieces with some brown twine. The envelopes were addressed with a wrap-around label.
